The Life Insurance Settlement Association (LISA) will host its 19th Annual Spring Life Settlement Conference in Las Vegas at the Venetian Resort between May 29-31, 2013. LISA will once again assemble a wide range of outstanding speakers whose expertise and viewpoints are in high demand within and outside the life settlement industry. The conference will highlight new developments in underwriting, the ever-changing dynamics between brokers, providers and investors, and recent developments in law and regulation that will assist in attracting new capital to the life settlement market.

President - Nate Evans, Maple Life Financial, Inc.
Vice President - John McCarroll, Q Capital Strategies, LLC
Secretary - Mike Fasano, President, Fasano Associates
Treasurer - Zohar Elhanani, Legacy Benefits, LLC

The Life Insurance Settlement Association (LISA) board voted unanimously yesterday to offer the top staff job to Darwin Bayston, according to a person familiar with the situation.

Bayston recently became director of consulting at AVS Underwriting, a Kennesaw, Ga.-based life expectancy provider. Before that, he had been managing director of Life Settlement Consulting & Management since 2004.

Doug Head is the current executive director of LISA. Head earlier announced plans to retire at the end of the year.

Major Life Expectancy Providers (LEPr) have formed a focus group to provide best practices standards and transparency to the life settlement and longevity markets.

The European Life Settlement Association (ELSA) has formed a committee to work with European agencies to develop regulations that protect life settlement investors, as well as lobby for the industry's interests.

The new regulatory committee will be chaired by Brian Casey, a partner at the Atlanta office of law firm Locke Lord Bissell & Liddell, according to a statement from ELSA on Monday. It will engage with financial regulators in the U.K., Ireland, Luxembourg and the European Union.
