LISA 2nd Annual Institutional Investor Life Settlement Conference

Feb 22 2012
Place:
Harvard Club NYC

Life settlements are maturing as an attractive and viable asset class for long term institutional portfolios. According to Conning Research & Consulting, life settlements are attractive to investors for two main reasons. First, the asset class has a low correlation to fixed-income and equity securities. Second, life settlements still offer investors the potential to generate a competitive return.

Regulated in 40 states, life settlement transactions today are conducted in an environment of greater transparency and full disclosure.
Conning also estimates there were approximately $36 billion (face value) of life settlements in force at year-end 2010. Further, they forecast that the market could increase on a Net Market Potential from approximately $87 billion in 2011 to $151 billion by 2020; with an estimated average annual Net Market Potential over the next ten years of $138 billion1.
